• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in electronics, automation & controls, mechatronics, or systems engineering.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in the field outlined above.
• Hands-on experience in designing control and/or machine learning algorithms (e.g., model predictive control, optimization, reinforcement learning, forecasting.
• Strong familiarity with model-based design and object-oriented programming.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink; experience with Python and C++ is a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD workflows, especially using Jenkins.
• Strong written and spoken English skills; German language skills are a plus.
• Flexibility to occasionally attend late-afternoon meetings to align with US colleagues.
• Experience working in agile development methodologies.

We are looking for a Software Developer who will play a crucial role in designing and implementing control and machine learning algorithms for energy management in residential HVAC-E systems. HVAC-E refers to HVAC systems integrated with electrical energy generation, dedicated control systems, specialized wiring, and other electrical components essential to their operation.

Your responsibilities:

• Analyze product and system requirements related to energy management solutions for thermal and electrical energy systems.
• Specify, design, implement, and test control and machine learning algorithms for energy management solutions.
• Develop and optimize control and machine learning algorithms, leveraging field data from operating HVAC-E systems.
• Validate and verify algorithms throughout development using Model-in-the-Loop simulations and experiments.
• Support test and requirements engineers in specifying test concepts and cases carried out at system, integration, and unit level.
• Extend and maintain high-quality documentation of deliverables.
