Energy Management System

The Energy Management System (EMS) project team at Viessmann makes the energy flows in the user's homes visible in real time, and for analysis of historical data as well. At its heart is optimisation as part of a smart ecosystem.

Energy management and energy policy play a key role at Viessmann. With our energy management system (EMS), we have created an organisational structure that enables us to systematically improve energy efficiency, energy use and energy consumption. Special in this project is that we are developing digital solutions for two target groups, which are B2C and B2B.

EMS in ViCare - for end customers

Energy Management gives a real-time view on energy flows at home on a smartphone or tablet. These include self-produced electricity by photovoltaic system, as well as electricity consumed on site, e.g. for operating the heat pump. Moreover, Energy Management optimises system to decrease electricity costs by increasing self-consumption and maximising the autarky rate at the same time.

EMS in ViGuide - for professionals/partner

Energy Management can be easily commissioned and activated by the installer using the ViGuide mobile app. During commissioning, Viessmann partner is guided in the ViGuide mobile app to select the correct wiring scheme in an intuitive manner. Monitoring of the customers systems by the Viessmann partner is carried out using ViGuide. In this way, errors, maintenance requirements or opportunities for system improvements can be quickly identified.

The Team

Core team consist of 2 main competence groups. The Embedded Team develops and supports various communication protocols to ensure that all connected devices can talk to each other. Meanwhile, the HOCA Team works on intelligent algorithms that, based on a number of factors, are able to predict the conditions which will occur, and thus plan the appropriate parameters of connected devices in advance. But delivery E2E working solution is made by close cooperation with other teams across the OneR&D organization - ViCare, ViGuide Mobile, ViGuide Web, IoT Backend, IoT Communication, Data Engineering, VitoCharge, HeatPump, TCU, Data Science and others.
